Firstly do you have aprovisional driving licence? - (you must have one before starting to drive on public roads), Before you can book your Practical Driving Test you need to pass theTheory and Hazard perception tests,click on the link and you can book on line at the DSA and take mock tests. If this is your first time taking driving lessons it's recommended that you gain a few hours road experience before booking your theory test.
When it comes to booking your Practical Driving Test, your Driving Instructor will discuss the details with you, which driving test centre, best time of day etc. Both of you should be in agreement that you are ready to take this step. The practical test costs £62 plus 2 hours of your driving instructors time (driving lesson before the test & then use of your instructors car for the test itself), so from that point of view it's not something to be taken lightly!
